Discover Piano at GCCC
In the Finnup Piano Lab, students will find ten state-of-the-art work stations complete with Kurzweil 88-key digital pianos and new iMac computers. Whether notating music with Finale, or practicing Music Theory and Aural Skills with Practica Musica or Auralia, students have the opportunity to work in an exciting musical environment with resources that encourage growth in their musical studies.
Auditions
High school seniors interested in enrolling at GCCC are encouraged to audition for piano scholarships. The audition will involve a performance and an interview. Plan to play one or two piano solos from standard classical repertoire between 3-5 minutes in length that demonstrate your ability. Memorization is preferred but not required. Sight reading, scales and technical exercises may be requested.
Meet Joe Lowry
Joe Lowry is the Instructor of Piano and Staff Accompanist at GCCC. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Music Business from Chadron State College in 2001, and received teaching certification from Fort Hays State University in 2011. Mr. Lowry is an active musician in bands both local and region-wide, a singer-songwriter, and an all-around music fan. He also teaches general music and band at St. Dominic Elementary School.
