Allied Health
Our Allied Health programs at GCCC include Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), and Certified Medication Aide (CMA).
These short programs allow you to receive expert training, earn your certification
to work, and enter an industry that is in high demand for healthcare workers.
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
Nursing aides provide basic care for patients in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and clinics. The CNA course at GCCC is a five-credit-hour course that provides you with the basic knowledge necessary to meet the psychosocial, physical, and environmental needs of patients, clients, and residents in the facility or agency that you will eventually work in.
Ninety (90) clock hours must be completed as required by the Kansas Dept. of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), which includes 45 hours of instructional learning and 45 hours of in -person lab/clinical time. After successful completion of the course, students are prepared to take the KDADS State CNA exam.
Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
Medication aides administer certain classifications of medications in long-term care facilities. The CMA course at GCCC is a five-credit hour course and provides you with the basic techniques and safety in medication administration. This includes the study of commonly used drugs, as well as classifications and side effects.
Seventy-Five (75) clock hours must be completed as required by the Kansas Dept. of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), which includes 50 hours of instructional learning and 25 hours of in -person lab/clinical time. After successful completion of the course, students are prepared to take the KDADS State CMA exam.
Home Health Aide (HHA)
Home health aides provide personal care to individuals with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or cognitive impairment, from infant to older adults.
This two-credit-hour course at GCCC will prepare you for work in a variety of home health agencies. It includes the basic knowledge and adaptation of skills you need to provide care and meet the psychosocial, physical, and environmental needs of an individual or family in the home. The course covers 20 clock hours and After successful completion of the course, students are prepared to take the KDADS State HHA exam.
