Biology and Life Sciences
If you want to study Biology and Life Sciences at Garden City Community College, then you are likely planning to transfer to a four-year institution to continue your studies. The Associate in Science degree in Biology and Life Sciences program at Garden City Community College not only offers foundational science courses, but also pays close attention to the requirements of four-year institutions so that a satisfactory transfer can be made. You will receive a good background in chemistry, which is essential to the understanding of biology, as well as the opportunity to select from a number of general education, math, and science electives. After study at GCCC, you will be prepared to move into a Biology or Science program at the university level.
Each semester, you will join 20 to 30 students in your general education courses. As you progress through the more advanced science courses, your class sizes will become smaller, providing increased personal attention for the more difficult subject matter.
Scholarships are available for students in the Biology and Life Sciences program at GCCC, visit the Financial Aid page for more information about which scholarships you are eligible for.
GCCC is a great place to start your Biology degree. We have a recommended class sequence, but biology programs should be tailored to the career and/or school where you plan to finish your four year degree. Please refer to your transfer school's graduation requirements or the prerequisites required at the post graduate school you plan to attend. If you are undecided, you may want to research all of the schools you are considering.
