BusterCon is western Kansas’ only comic convention. BusterCon is a one-day, family-friendly event that showcases the talents of local artists, authors, and vendors from across Kansas. The convention features a variety of entertain-ment, including a cosplay showcase, costume contest, car show, campus clubs, and even an appearance by Darth Vader.
“Comic conventions have become an integral part of many communities, drawing larger crowds each year. With the nearest similar events located in Wichita or Colorado Springs, BusterCon fills a unique gap, serving not only our students but also local families and fans,” said Event Organizer William Schlichter.
BusterCon also serves as a fundraiser for the bUSter’s United committee, a student-led organization dedicated to supporting the GCCC community. Pro-ceeds from the convention help fund initiatives like providing meals for stu-dents who remain on campus during Thanksgiving break. As BusterCon contin-ues to grow, organizers are seeking sponsors to support the event and further its mission to serve both students and the community. Sponsorships will en-sure that bUSter’s United can continue offering vital programs that enhance campus life while expanding BusterCon into a major regional event.
