GCCCA Adult Education Program Receives Positive Review from Kansas Board of Regents
[Garden City, KS] October 8, 2024 - The Garden City Career Connections Academy (GCCCA), the division responsible for Garden City Community College's (GCCC) adult education program, received high praise from the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) following an on-site review conducted on September 12, 2024. KBOR commended the program for its outstanding service to adult learners and highlighted several promising practices that set it apart.
During the visit, KBOR found the GCCCA’s Adult Education Program to be fully compliant, with zero areas of concern identified. The review noted the program's strong connections with GCCC Advisory Committees and Boards, as well as its exemplary use of supplemental tutors from the college, which were cited as a best practice.
KBOR also recognized the program's commitment to protecting student confidentiality, praising the weekly data meetings and designated times for the Data Specialist to work undisturbed with sensitive student information. The dedication and professionalism of the GCCCA staff and instructors left a lasting impression on the KBOR team.
“We are incredibly proud of the work being done by the Garden City Career Connections Academy,” said Dr. Ryan Ruda, President of Garden City Community College. “This positive review from KBOR underscores the impact of the GCCCA team’s commitment to providing quality adult education and helping learners achieve their educational and career aspirations.”
In addition to the commendations, KBOR provided recommendations for continued success, including expanding opportunities for students through the Accelerating Opportunity Kansas (AO-K) Pathways, supporting students in post-testing to demonstrate academic gains, and continuing the implementation of College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS).
GCCC and the GCCCA express their gratitude to the Kansas Board of Regents for their thoughtful review and look forward to continuing their mission of delivering exceptional education to adult learners.
