GCCC Unveils New Mobile App Name After Contest Held

[Garden City, KS] January 5, 2022 -- Garden City Community College has announced the winning submission for the recently held App Rename Contest, organized by GCCC Student Government Association (SGA).  The mobile application used by students, which did not have an official name besides "GCCC App", will now bear the new name "Buster Biz", courtesy of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK).

SGA held a contest at the end of the fall semester where GCCC students or student organizations had the opportunity to submit a new app name suggestion.  The contest prize was $500, in the form of a scholarship for a student winner or in the form of funding for a student organization winner. The submissions were compiled, and campus-wide voting was held online before winter break.

The winning name, Buster Biz, was submitted by PTK and the organization will receive $500 in funding during the spring semester.  A new app icon was designed by the GCCC Marketing Department to coincide with the new name launching.

Buster Biz is a mobile application available to GCCC students and employees that allows quick and easy access to personal course schedules, virtual event calendars, mental health support, community building tools, and other student and campus services.  Campus organizations and departments utilize the app to keep students informed and engaged throughout the academic year.
