GCCC Receives Donation from American AgCredit for New Greenhouse
[Garden City, KS] December 14, 2022 -- Garden City Community College received a $50,000 donation from American AgCredit to support a new greenhouse, a core component of the upcoming Crop Production Technology program.
As part of GCCC's Title III Hispanic Serving Institution STEM Grant, a new Crop Production Technology program is in development. The program is set to begin in Fall 2023 and will allow year-round hands-on experiences for students to learn how crops are grown, maintained, and evaluated throughout the growing period -- setting a strong foundation for the next generation to enter the agriculture workforce or production agriculture industry.
The donation from American AgCredit will support purchasing a larger and more robust structure than was originally planned through the initial grant. The 48' x 84' greenhouse will be located north of the tennis courts. GCCC was chosen to receive funds from American AgCredit's Local Community Impact Program, which provides financial and related contributions to support the future of agriculture.
Garden City Community College is appreciative of the support from American AgCredit. To learn more about American AgCredit, visit https://www.agloan.com/.
