GCCC Provides Update on Federal Financial Aid Amid Funding Freeze
[Garden City, KS] January 28, 2025 -- In light of recent news regarding a federal funding freeze, Garden City Community College (GCCC) shares this update from Federal Student Aid.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, all Title IV student financial aid is exempt from the Jan. 27, 2025 Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memo. Per the memo, the pause does not impact “assistance received directly by individuals”. This includes Pell Grants, federal loans, and other Title IV aid, which are provided to individual students. However, aid outside of Title IV remains unclear at this time.
What does this mean for you?
- Your Pell Grants and federal student loans are not impacted by the federal funding freeze.
- The first financial aid disbursement for the spring semester is still on schedule for the end of February.
