GCCC DPS Firearms Trainings Schedule for 2022 Released
[Garden City, KS] January 25, 2022 -- The Department of Public Safety at Garden City Community College will host many firearms
training courses throughout the year including Basic Pistol, Concealed Carry, and
Women on Target.
The Basic Pistol training course is open to men, women, and children aged 16 or older who have a parent also enrolled in the class. This eight-hour hands-on course covers the fundamentals of handgun operation. It will be offered on February 19th and September 10th from 8 AM to 5 PM. The $85 registration fee includes the use of guns and ammo, and participants are encouraged to provide their own eye and ear protection.
The Concealed Carry training course is required for all Kansas citizens who desire to apply for a Concealed Carry Handgun License. Participants must know how to safely handle a handgun in order to take this course. The training will be offered on March 5th, May 7th, August 6th, October 1st, and December 3rd from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. A $100 registration fee, which includes lunch, is required. Participants must provide their own firearm, 60 rounds of ammunition, and eye and ear protection.
The Women on Target training course is open to women and girls aged 16 or older who have a parent also enrolled in the class. No experience is necessary to join this eight-hour hands-on course covering gun safety and familiarization. The $85 registration fee includes the use of guns and ammo, and participants are encouraged to provide their own eye and ear protection. The training will be offered on April 2nd, June 4th, and November 5th from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Pre-registration and payment are required the Monday before each course to hold your spot. The classroom portion of the trainings is held on the GCCC campus in the JCVT building, followed by the practical portion at the shooting range.
