GCCC Endowment Association to Hold Annual Phonathon in Conjunction with MatchDay

[Garden City, KS] November 13, 2024 – The Garden City Community College (GCCC) Endowment Association is excited to announce its participation in the Western Kansas Community Foundation’s (WKCF) MatchDay event, running from November 18 to December 3, 2024. During this period, the GCCC Endowment Association will also hold its annual Phonathon, combining efforts to maximize support for GCCC students and programs.

MatchDay

MatchDay, organized by WKCF, will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, offering a unique opportunity for donations made to the GCCC Endowment Association to be proportionately matched. The $100,000 match pool will be distributed among participating organizations based on the total amount raised. Donations between $20 and $2,000 qualify for matching, enhancing the impact of each contribution.

Lenzy Kuebler, Director of Endowment Association and Annual Giving at GCCC, emphasized the importance of MatchDay, stating, "MatchDay is a unique opportunity to grow our Endowment exponentially, so that we can enrich our programs for even greater impact, for years to come. This is a rare chance to multiply the difference we make, and every gift will help us maximize the match."

Ways to Give

WKCF is accepting donations in three ways to facilitate participation:

  • Online: From November 18 to December 3, donors can make donations electronically at matchday.wkcf.org, an efficient and secure option.
  • In-Person: On "Giving Tuesday," December 3, 2024, contributions will be accepted at the First United Methodist Church, 1106 N. Main, Garden City, KS, in the fellowship hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Mail-In: Donors may mail their checks to WKCF at 402 N. Main, Garden City, KS 67846. To qualify for matching, checks must be made payable to WKCF, include a giving form, and be date and postmarked between November 18 and December 3.

Phonathon Event

The annual Phonathon will take place from November 18 to November 21. During this time, GCCC students will be calling alumni, friends, and supporters of the college between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Donations collected during this period will contribute to the MatchDay initiative, further amplifying their impact. Thanks to United Wireless, which provides the phones and airtime for the event, the Phonathon continues to be a vital fundraiser supporting GCCC students through scholarships for both academic and technical programs.
