GCCC Department of Public Safety Announces 2025 Firearms Training Schedule
[Garden City, KS] November 20, 2024 -- Garden City Community College’s Department of Public Safety has released its 2025 training schedule for Basic Handgun, Concealed Carry, and Women’s Basic Handgun courses. These hands-on courses, designed to promote safe and responsible firearm handling, will take place at the GCPD Indoor Range.
Registration Details
Payment is required at the time of registration, and the deadline to sign up is the
Monday before each course. As seating is limited, cancellations must be made by 4:00
PM on the Wednesday before the class to receive a full refund. Late cancellations
or no-shows will incur a $50 fee. Registration confirms acceptance of these terms.
2025 Firearms Training Schedule
- Basic Handgun
- Open to men, women, and youth (ages 16+ with a parent also enrolled), this eight-hour course provides comprehensive instruction on handgun fundamentals.
- Dates: January 18, May 3, October 4
- Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Cost: $85 (includes firearms and ammunition)
- Participants must bring their own eye and ear protection.
- Concealed Carry
A mandatory course for Kansas residents applying for a Concealed Carry Handgun License, this class requires prior knowledge of safe handgun handling. - Dates: February 1, April 5, June 7, September 6, November 1
- Time: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Cost: $100 (includes lunch)
- Participants must bring their own firearm, 60 rounds of ammunition, and eye and ear protection.
- Women’s Basic Handgun
Designed specifically for women and girls (ages 16+ with a parent also enrolled), this eight-hour class focuses on gun safety and operation, with no prior experience required. - Dates: March 1, August 2, December 6
- Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Cost: $85 (includes firearms and ammunition)
- Participants must bring their own eye and ear protection.
