GCCC Department of Public Safety Announces 2023 Firearms Training Schedule
[Garden City, KS] December 14, 2022 -- The Department of Public Safety (DPS) at Garden City Community College has announced the 2023 schedule for Basic Handgun, Concealed Carry, and Women's Basic Handgun training courses.
The Basic Handgun training course is open to men, women, and children aged 16 or older who have a parent also enrolled in the class. This eight-hour hands-on course covers the fundamentals of handgun operation. It will be offered on May 6, and October 7, 2023, from 8 AM to 5 PM. The $85 registration fee includes the use of guns and ammo, and participants are encouraged to provide their own eye and ear protection.
The Concealed Carry training course is required for all Kansas citizens who desire to apply for a Concealed Carry Handgun License. Participants must know how to safely handle a handgun in order to take this course. The training will be offered on February 4, April 1, June 3, September 9, and November 4, 2023, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. A $100 registration fee, which includes lunch, is required. Participants must provide their own firearm, 60 rounds of ammunition, and eye and ear protection.
The Women's Basic Handgun training course is open to women and girls aged 16 or older who have a parent also enrolled in the class. No experience is necessary to join this eight-hour hands-on course covering gun safety and familiarization. The $85 registration fee includes the use of guns and ammo, and participants are encouraged to provide their own eye and ear protection. The training will be offered on March 4, August 5, and December 2, 2023, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
*All of the training is held at the GCPD Indoor Range and pre-registration and payment are required the Monday before each course to hold your spot.
