GCCC BOT Reviews and Discusses Monitoring Reports
[Garden City, KS] June 12, 2024 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees reviewed and discussed monitoring reports during the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
After approving the consent agenda, the Board of Trustees reviewed and discussed multiple monitoring reports. A key highlight from the Academic Advancement report was the introduction of GCCC's new Academic Catalog, which features an updated format. Previously, the catalog was designed in a magazine style and created with the help of multiple departments. This resulted in a static PDF document with several limitations, including space constraints and a lack of accessibility for visually impaired users.
For the 2024-2026 cycle, the Academic Catalog has been upgraded to a live, interactive digital document. This new format is fully accessible, easier to maintain, and free from space limitations. Consequently, information about program and transfer requirements can be shared more effectively with both students and advisors. Data on transfer statistics was also presented to the Board in the Academic Advancement report. This data reveals that GCCC ranks first in the state for the total credit hours transferred and accepted at state universities. For the second consecutive year, GCCC has the highest total credit hour transfer rate in Kansas, with an average of 56.3 credits transferred per student. Additional updates were provided on how GCCC supports student academic success, including transitioning to a new centralized advising model over the coming year.
The next meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the Ronald J. Scott Endowment Room inside the GCCC Beth Tedrow Student Center.
