GCCC BOT Approves 2023-2024 Rates & New Married/Family Housing
[Garden City, KS] February 22, 2023 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees approved the 2023-2024 tuition, fees, room and board rates and a new married/family housing structure at the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Tuition and fee recommendations are based on data analysis such as rates of the other Kansas community colleges, industry trends, and historical costs. GCCC Administration recommended holding tuition flat for all tuition structures. For student fees, the recommendation was a $3 increase. This increase will utilize $2 for creating new student scholarship opportunities for dual credit, alumni scholarships, and program scholarships available to students. The additional $1 increase will offset the cost of a new mental health and physical health resource for students. GCCC Student Government Association fully supports a mobile e-health application that will provide 24/7/365 access to fully licensed practitioners for mental and physical healthcare for all students beginning next fall.
Additionally, GCCC administration recommended adding a new married/family housing structure. The intent is to provide housing and board to an adult enrolled at GCCC to help address housing barriers. Four double-room units will be priced at the equivalent of $1,050/per month as a pilot for this option as an attempt to engage and recruit adult students to GCCC.
The Board approved the following rates for 2023-2024:
- Finney county tuition and fees - $119 per credit hour
- In-state tuition and fees - $121 per credit hour
- Border States tuition and fee - $135 per credit hour
