GCCC Announces 2025 NISOD Excellence Award Recipients

[Garden City, KS] April 11, 2025 – Garden City Community College is proud to announce its recipients of the annual NISOD Awards. The 2025 honorees are Dr. Jean Ferguson, Professor of ESL, and Misty Wren, Coordinator of Title III Outreach.

NISOD’s Excellence Awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues. Nominations for this award are submitted by peers, underscoring the significance of this recognition.

Excellence Awards recipients receive a specially cast pewter medallion hung on a burnt-orange ribbon that they can proudly wear at campus events such as graduation ceremonies. They are also listed in the NISOD Excellence Awards Booklet and on NISOD’s website. Ferguson and Wren were honored on stage during an all-employee meeting at GCCC on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

"Receiving the NISOD Excellence Awards is a well-deserved recognition of the dedication and impact these individuals have on our campus community," said Dr. Ryan Ruda, President of GCCC. "Their commitment to student success, innovative teaching, and the advancement of our institution is truly commendable."
