Commerce Bank Sponsors Equipment for New Medical Assistant Program
[Garden City, KS] June 29, 2023 -- Garden City Community College (GCCC) has received a donation from Commerce Bank to purchase $10,000 worth of equipment for the new Medical Assistant program at GCCC.
Commerce Bank and the Frazee Charitable Trust, in partnership with Commerce Trust, have sponsored the purchase of large ticket items, including a 3-channel Comact ECG machine, rolling paper, rolling stand, classic pediatric exam table with scale, ADC Adview 2 Modular Diagnostic Station, and mobile stand with basket pediatric cuff kit.
"Commerce Bank is always looking for opportunities to empower individuals, strengthen communities and support a strong region," said Rich Harp, Chairman, Commerce Bank - Garden City. "We see this donation as an investment in GCCC, the students who will enroll in the program and our region as a whole."
"GCCC is extremely fortunate to have strong supporters. We are excited to partner with Commerce Bank on initial funding for equipment for the start-up of the Medical Assistant program," said Dr. Ruda, GCCC President. "Implementing a new program takes considerable work, time, and funding. Commerce Bank has been a great financial partner for GCCC, and we truly appreciate their support to initiate this new program for our community and region."
GCCC's Certificate in Medical Assistant program prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians, to provide medical office administrative services and perform clinical duties, including patient intake and care, routine laboratory and minor procedures, pre-examination and examination assistance, and the administration of medications and first aid. Upon successful completion of the full program pathway, students will be eligible to sit for the national exam to become a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
