Our Mission

The GCCC Assessment Center promotes academic and career success by providing our diverse campus and community stakeholders with comprehensive, state-of-the art academic and professional testing services in a secure and distraction-free environment. The Assessment Center adheres to the National College Testing Association's Professional Standards and Guidelines.

Location & Hours

The GCCC Assessment Center is located on the second floor of the Student & Community Services Center. Visitor parking is available directly in front of the building.

Services Offered

The Assessment Center offers a wide variety of testing services for new students as well as individuals seeking credit for prior learning, proctored testing services for other colleges, candidates pursuing certifications, and more.

Test Accommodations

The Assessment Center provides special test accommodations for all candidates who qualify for non-standard test administrations (any learning, mental or physical disability that might adversely affect your test results). Please contact Coordinator of Accommodations (accomodations@gcccks.edu) for assistance in determining eligibility and the documentation needed for submission prior to the day of testing.


Remote Testing

To arrange for Accuplacer testing at a community college or university near you, email the Assessment Center at assessment@gcccks.edu to determine exactly which tests you need and/or to confirm a suitable alternative test. We can arrange remote Accuplacer testing for you, however, most institutions will charge you a proctoring fee to take the test in their Assessment Center.

Students wishing to complete Accuplacer testing at GCCC for use at another college are responsible for contacting their schools Assessment Center and having staff arrange for remote testing through the Accuplacer Remote Testing Network. A $25 fee (cash, check, charge) is due from you on the day of testing. 


Our Policies 

To fulfill our mission of a providing a secure and distraction-free testing environment, the GCCC Assessment Center enforces the following rules:

  1. It is essential all candidates display civil, mature and respectful behavior toward staff and other test-takers throughout their time in the Assessment Center. 
  2. Candidates must follow the regulations specific to their test and to any instructions given by Assessment Center staff. 
  3. All candidates are required to provide a valid (unexpired) student ID or government-issued photo ID. The photo ID must match exactly the name used when registering (e.g., double or hyphenated last names).
    • State-issued permit/drivers license or ID card
    • Permanent resident ID
    • School ID
    • S. Military ID card
    • S. Passport or Passport Card
    • International Passport
    • Tribal ID 
  4. All personal items, including purses, backpacks, electronic devices (phones, calculators, watches, flash drives, fitness trackers, etc.) and headgear (including caps, hats and hoodies but excluding headwear worn for religious commitment) must be stored in a Assessment Center locker. 
  5. Exams are monitored continuously by video observation and physical walk-throughs. 
  6. Testers are able to take a break/use the restroom during testing. 
  7. Below is an abbreviated list of prohibited activities: 
    • Creating any kind of disturbance in the Assessment Center area
    • Communicating in any manner with others while in the testing room
    • Possession of food, drink or unauthorized writing implements, paper or study aids/reference materials while in the testing room
    • Tampering with the operation of a computer or attempting to use it for any function other than taking the test, including accessing other sites not required for the exam
    • Attempting to remove questions, responses, notes or scratch paper from the testing room 
  8. Candidates in violation of any policy will be dismissed from the Assessment Center.
