As the adult education division of Garden City Community College, GCCCA has been serving southwest Kansas for more than 40 years by providing affordable, supportive educational opportunities for adult learners. Who Can Enroll?
Most adult learners 18 years of age or older are eligible to participate in GCCCA classes and testing.
Students who are 16 or 17 years old may enroll if they provide documentation showing they are no longer required to attend high school.
Acceptable documentation includes:
- High School Disclaimer and Exemption Forms
- Court order exempting school attendance
- Proof of enrollment in an approved alternative education program
- Proof of legal emancipation
- Marriage certificate
Programs Offered
GED & Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Earn your Kansas High School Equivalency Diploma and open the door to college, better career opportunities, and higher earning potential.
Our GED and Adult Basic Education classes help students strengthen their:
- Reading
- Writing
- Math
- Test-taking skills
Classes are offered throughout the week with flexible scheduling to fit busy lifestyles.
High School Equivalency Program (HEP)
HEP assists eligible migratory and seasonal farmworkers (or their children) who are at least 16 years old and no longer enrolled in high school.
Students receive support preparing for the High School Equivalency Diploma while building a pathway toward employment, workforce training, or college.
English Language Acquisition (ELA)
Improve your English speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.
Students are placed into courses based on their current skill level to help them:
- Communicate confidently
- Prepare for employment
- Continue their education
- Support their families and communities
Morning, daytime, and evening classes are available.
Citizenship Classes
Prepare for the USCIS Naturalization Test with instruction covering:
- U.S. History
- Civics
- Government
- English reading
- English writing
- Citizenship interview preparation
Registration Requirements
To register, please bring:
- Government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, Real ID, etc.)
- Citizenship or immigration documentation (if applicable)
- High School Attendance Disclaimer (for students ages 16–17)
- Enrollment fee
Accepted citizenship or immigration documentation includes:
- Real ID
- U.S. Birth Certificate
- U.S. Passport
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
- Other valid immigration documents

Eligibility

Students may qualify if they:
- Do not have a high school diploma
- Need to improve reading, writing, or math skills
- Have not completed all four GED exams
English Language Acquisition

- Need to improve English proficiency
- Meet applicable citizenship or immigration requirements
