GCCC, Newman University Partnership Helps Students Earn Bachelor’s Degrees in Garden City

[Garden City, KS] October 16, 2024 -- Garden City Community College and Newman University announced a partnership to bring bachelor’s degree programs to students locally in Garden City earlier this year. Courses are now underway as students begin their path to graduating with bachelor’s degrees in nursing, teaching, agribusiness or business.

“We take great pride in seeing our GCCC graduates continue their education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree here on our campus through Newman University,” said Dr. Ryan Ruda, president of Garden City Community College. “Having the option for our graduating students to continue their education without having to leave Garden City will make a difference in our community for generations to come, bringing us certified nurses, teachers and businesspeople ready to get to work when they finish their education.”

The HERE bachelor’s degree program ensures higher education is accessible and affordable for all students in Garden City. Classes are offered on flexible schedules and while many students prefer in-person learning, online options are also available. Students may also take courses at night. The Newman University team works with all students to customize their education, ensuring the program is meeting the needs of students in Garden City.

All students who have graduated or plan to graduate from Garden City Community College with an associate degree automatically qualify for a $20,000 scholarship towards course work on their bachelor’s degree through Newman University. Additionally, students who choose nursing, business or agribusiness will receive a federal Pell or state grant match. This means that all federal Pell or state grants will be matched by Newman University, up to $7,500. Additional scholarships are available for teaching majors as well.
