Program Overview
The Exercise Science program at Garden City Community College is designed for students
interested in how the human body responds to physical activity and training. It is
an excellent pathway for those planning careers in physical therapy, athletic training,
personal coaching, or other health and fitness fields.
Human Performance and Movement Science
Students explore key areas such as human physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and
kinesiology. The program focuses on how the body moves and adapts, helping students
understand how to support peak physical health and performance.
Hands-On Learning in Small Classes
With an average class size of about 12 students, learners receive personalized instruction
while gaining practical experience in fitness assessment, health risk evaluation,
and the use of lab tools to measure human performance.
Career and Transfer Preparation
Students develop foundational skills in exercise science and fitness assessment that
prepare them for seamless transfer to a four-year university and future careers in
health, fitness, and rehabilitation fields.
